Ultrasonic Cleaning for Blinds and Shades Ultrasonic technology has been used for many years in other industries including the healthcare field, using ultrasonics to clean and sanitize hospital surgical equipment. It is also used in the jewelry industry to clean expensive and sometimes fragile and precious stones. Since fabric blinds cannot be “scrubbed” without damaging them, ultrasonics prove to be a gentle and effective method for cleaning those expensive and delicate fabrics.
Ultrasonic cleaning includes the use of sound waves. The dirty blinds and shades are put into a tank filled with hot water and a mild detergent. There are transducers that create sound waves which in turn generate millions of microscopic bubbles. The bubbles travel through the water until they collide with something, causing an implosion that will dislodge whatever dirt or contaminant it comes in contact with. Essentially, the dirt is vibrated off of the fabric, head rail, cords, ladders – every square inch of the blind or shade. All parts are cleaned and sanitized resulting in a fresh clean look for your blind or shade.
Heavily soiled or stained treatments will sometimes require a double washing or even a light power washing. All shades are carefully inspected as they go through the cleaning process. Ultrasonics have the ability to help loosen the fine layers of dirt and grime that have accumulated over many years. Products such as aluminum mini-blinds, vinyl verticals or faux wood blinds can then be carefully scrubbed to remove all of the dirt and build-up. They are then returned to the tank for a final rinse and sanitizing.
The Blind Cleaning Company offers a pick-up and re-installation service for those that prefer to have one of our experienced representatives assess, take-down, and then return for a professional installation. We will first evaluate the condition of your treatment to confirm that cleaning is a sensible choice. After removing the products to be cleaned, they are transported back to our factory in Farmingdale for their ultrasonic cleaning. A trained installer will then return to install your cleaned blinds or shades correctly. We will take out the hassle and worry and return your treatments within a couple of days.
The cost for pick-up and re-installation starts at $95.00 + tax. This price will cover the cost for your first five products. Each additional treatment greater than five will cost an additional $10.00 each. This charge is in addition to the actual cost of cleaning. When you call to set up an appointment for pick-up, you will be given a date for re-installation. This way you will know exactly when we will return with your freshly cleaned treatments. On that same phone call, a free estimate will also be given to you. We ask that before you call, take a moment to roughly measure your treatments so that we can provide you with an accurate estimate.
All of our representatives and installers are full-time employees of The Blind Cleaning Company/Instant Verticals and have each been with the company for a minimum of 15 years. This is the experience that our customers have come to expect and why they place their trust in our services. We can guarantee that you will be happy with our service and we will do what it takes to make sure of that!

Most blinds and shades that are not very old can be repaired and the best way to know for sure is to bring them into our showroom. It is in our showroom that we can inspect your product and give you a free and honest evaluation. We may ask you to leave the treatment so we can look further into what exactly is needed to complete the repair.
Treatments that are 20 years or older can often run into problems with repairs due to their lack of available replacement parts. The older a blind or shade is means the greater the likelihood that the manufacturer is no longer in business. You must also ask yourself if it is worth repairing a product that has long outlasted its life expectancy. These are questions that we can answer for you after your treatment has been inspected.
We do offer a discount on repairs when ultrasonic cleaning is also performed at the same time. An incentive to not only fix your treatment but also allowing us to send it out looking as good as possible.
